I apologize for going absentee on the blog. I’ve been having some trouble balancing this project with summer fun and other work (I am a video editor by profession, so sometimes I get burnt out from too much computer). Things are going to mellow out in the next few weeks and I promise I’ll be back with weekly installments very soon. For now, go outside and have some fun!

It seems that queer electro/rap groups are a dime a dozen these days, but none manage to mix pop and politics so successfully as Seattle’s Team Gina. Discourses about Reaganomics, body image, and product placement have never been so much fun. Team Gina always bring the party, and this evening was no exception. Turn your living room into a Team Gina dance party by getting their new CD, also titled ‘Products of the 80s,’ out in July on Don’t Stop Believin’ records.

This documentary is still in production. It is about a movement to provide safe abortions in a country where legal abortion is not available. They are still looking for funding so if you have any ideas let me know.

Hello and welcome to the inaugural post of What Rabbit: a new (somewhat) weekly live music blog focusing on queer and female bands and musicians performing live in my home of Portland, Oregon… and beyond. This first post marks the end of a band that I played guitar in for four years. The song is called ‘Grey Matter.’ Its my favorite Swan Island song, and this was my favorite time playing it. Actually when we played it in Kentucky my mom danced on stage with Brisa, and that was pretty awesome too. But I digress. Keep your eyes on Brisa, she busts out some serious moves on this one.
I hope you like it, and keep checking back as I will have a new song from a different band for you next week.
